A safe and healthy working environment is a fundamental principle and right at work.
We choose to recognise the importance of work health and safety on this World Day. This year’s theme, ‘A safe and healthy working environment is a fundamental principle and right at work’, highlights the significance of having a secure workplace for employees and employers alike.
Creating a safe and healthy working environment should be a priority for everyone in the workplace. As members of the workforce, we have a shared responsibility to prevent any accidents or injuries from happening by taking necessary precautions. By doing so, we ensure our own well-being as well as those around us.
It is concerning to learn that Safe Work Australia has reported 169 workers fatally injured at work in Australia so far this year. Any work-related fatality is unacceptable and emphasises the need for every individual to prioritise safety in their workplace.
We are reflecting on this day and encouraging our team to approach each day with a safe mindset – it can make a world of difference.
